Like many people, I’ve always wanted to write a book, but until recently, I’ve been enamored by the idea of writing a book. Tell people you’re writing a book, that’s sexy, romanticized even, but actually writing one is hard work that requires frantic writing as a new idea hits you at 4:00 am, feelings of frustration when your character does something so ridiculously stupid you wonder how they survived through the climax, and a tumultuous amount of self-doubt as you wonder if you actually have something meaningful to add to the world. That’s my current situation as I’m letting my characters run amuck on the page. This is, by far, the hardest, most challenging endeavor I’ve taken on, but I’m excited to see where it lands me.
